Black History Month
Black History Month is celebrated nationally each year in February. It is a time to highlight the contributions and achievements of African American individuals, as well as their struggles for freedom and equality in the United States.
The Redford Township District Library invites the community to celebrate Black History Month this February with a variety of engaging programs and events.
Highlights include:
- Engaging storytimes for all ages.
- Curated online book lists featuring diverse authors and stories.
- The Movement of Freedom with Anthony Lucas and Ernestine Worford on February 18, 2026, from 6:00–7:00 PM. This free, family-friendly program celebrates Black History Month through storytelling inspired by the Civil Rights Movement and the words of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
