The level of community transmission, for COVID-19, in Wayne County is currently listed as substantial or above by the CDC. Masks are required at this time.


The Library has a team of dedicated, friendly volunteers who assist staff with special, unusual, or supplemental tasks that further the library’s mission. Potential volunteer projects include:

  • DVD resurfacing
  • Covering paperbacks
  • Reshelving magazines
  • Ellison machine cutting
  • Locating requested materials
  • Shifting books
  • Shelf reading or shelving materials
  • Cleaning
  • Graphic design work
  • Labeling books
  • Clerical work

Please note:  Library Volunteers must have a library card in good standing and be at least 13 years of age. A parent or guardian’s written permission to serve is required for all volunteers under 18. All potential volunteers should review the full Library Volunteer Policy.

Teen volunteers

Interested in helping someone in need? Want community service hours? Free Tech Help for adults is a great volunteer opportunity at RTDL. Fill out an application (if you’re under 18, only fill out the first page) then, our teen librarian will be in contact with you. Tech tutoring is held on the first Saturday of the month from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. and the second Thursday of the month from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. You will assist adults with an array of Apple, Android, tablet, laptop, and smartphone technology questions.
